The cause of death wasn&#8217;t disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown was among hundreds of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2019\/05\/12\/wwii-era-navajo-code-talker-fleming-begaye-sr-dies-at-97\/\" target=\"_blank\">Navajos<\/a> who served in the Marine Corps, using a code based on their native language to outsmart the Japanese in World War II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown enlisted in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Honorable Service Label Button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown\u2019s funeral is scheduled Thursday at Fort Defiance Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fort Defiance, Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Navajo Code Talker William Tully Brown passed away yesterday at 96 years old.<br><br>Brown, one of the last surviving Code Talkers from WWII, enlisted in 1944 and became part of a legendary group of Native Americans who encoded messages in the Navajo language. <br><br>Semper Fidelis, Marine. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yKuYHa4DsB\">pic.twitter.com\/yKuYHa4DsB<\/a><\/p>&mdash;
