{"id":28144,"date":"2021-06-14T22:35:15","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T22:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/uncategorized\/2021\/06\/14\/corps-offers-big-bonus-for-more-intelligence-marines\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T20:40:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T20:40:00","slug":"corps-offers-big-bonus-for-more-intelligence-marines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2021\/06\/14\/corps-offers-big-bonus-for-more-intelligence-marines\/","title":{"rendered":"Corps offers big bonus for more intelligence Marines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2021\/06\/12\/centcom-commander-vows-to-keep-the-pressure-on-adversaries-even-after-leaving-afghanistan-exclusive-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marine Corps<\/a> needs more intelligence personnel and<b> <\/b>it\u2019s willing to pay out substantial retention bonuses to get them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Corps is lacking Marines in the 0211 Counterintelligence\/Human Intelligence military occupational specialty, according to a recently released administrative message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cManpower and Reserve Affairs (M&amp;RA) has categorized the 0211 MOS as a critical career force skill shortage,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marines.mil\/News\/Messages\/Messages-Display\/Article\/2653684\/solicitation-of-qualified-marines-to-lateral-move-into-the-counterintelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\">MARADMIN reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe demand for qualified Marines to lateral move to this MOS will remain high for the foreseeable future,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Corps is looking for corporals and sergeants with a GT score of at least 110. Marines can request a waiver if they are within five points of the GT score and staff sergeants will be considered on a case-by-case basis, according to the MARDMIN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A first term sergeant who re-enlists for 72 months will be eligible for $87,500 as a bonus once they officially earn the 0211 MOS, the MARADMIN said.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2021\/06\/09\/marine-corps-inspector-general-fired-counseled-as-result-of-deadly-aav-accident\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/marines_beach.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Marine Corps inspector general fired, counseled as result of deadly AAV accident<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Maj. Robert Castellvi had been suspended from his position in April.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MOS is tasked with countering hostile intelligence agencies and collecting intelligence from human sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Counterintelligence \u201cactivities are concerned with identifying and counteracting the threat of friendly forces posed by hostile intelligence organizations, or by persons engaged in espionage, sabotage, subversion or terrorism,\u201d the COOL summary of the MOS reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human intelligence \u201cactivities are designed to obtain intelligence information using human beings as both sources and collectors, where the human being is the primary collection instrument,\u201d the summary adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond the GT scores and ranks, those who request a lateral move into the MOS \u201cmust have first proven themselves as high-quality Marines,\u201d the MARDMIN said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Marines must show strong communication skills, \u201cIntellect, flexibility, creativity, and diverse cultural experience,\u201d the MARADMIN adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are currently 150 boat spaces for the 0211 MOS, Yvonne Carlock, a spokeswoman with Marine Corps Manpower and Reserve Affairs, told Marine Corps Times in a Monday phone call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If approved for the lateral move, the Marines attend Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape training, as well as parachute training, in addition to their basic intelligence courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some Marines will also attend the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once training has been completed, Marines may be sent to several unique commands, such as Marine Forces Special Operations Command to work alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2019\/05\/22\/this-is-the-future-of-marsoc-according-to-the-commander-of-the-marine-corps-elite-raiders\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marine Raiders<\/a> or the Defense Intelligence Agency, the MARADMIN said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sergeants who re-enlist for 72 months and lateral move into the 0211 field may be eligible for an $87,500 re-enlistment bonus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":57881,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-noindex":"","_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-nofollow":"","_yoast_wpseo_canonical":"","_acf":"","_yoast_wpseo_primary_category":69,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","_smg_distribution_targets":{"2":{"categories":["news","left-column","home","middle-column","your-military"],"primary_category":""}}},"categories":[101,23,92,93,12,25,69],"tags":[],"coauthors":[3097],"class_list":["post-28144","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-daily-news-roundup","category-home","category-left-column","category-middle-column","category-news","category-newsletters","category-your-marine-corps"],"acf":{"subheadline":"","legacy_arc_id":"NOIOWB3CFVEJVLH3WBMLRYY7U4","arc_canonical_url":"\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2021\/06\/14\/corps-offers-big-bonus-for-more-intelligence-marines\/","remove_feature_photo":false,"is_sponsored":false,"subtype":"","redirect_url":"","disable_inline_ads":false,"native_logo_pretext":"Presented By:"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.0 (Yoast SEO v28.1) -
