Maj. Jason Deitschman, 49, pleaded \u201cnot guilty\u201d to one count of \u201cannoying or molesting a child\u201d on Nov. 27, according to court documents, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2019\/12\/11\/highly-decorated-marine-alameda-deputy-allegedly-sent-sexually-inappropriate-texts-to-teen\/\" target=_blank>The Mercury News<\/a> first reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deitschman is currently out on bail, his lawyer, Elliot Silver, told Marine Corps Times in a Thursday phone call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deitschman enlisted in the Corps in 1989 and retired in 2019 after spending almost his entire 30-year career in the Marine Corps Reserves, Maj. Craig Thomas, a Marine Corps spokesman, told Marine Corps Times Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2019\/10\/23\/no-punishment-marine-colonel-originally-convicted-for-child-sex-abuse-released-from-brig-awaits-retirement-decision\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/wilson.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Marine colonel originally convicted for child sex abuse released from brig, awaiting retirement decision<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">&quot;The convening authority will approve \u2018no punishment\u2019 on Wilson\u2019s General Court-Martial.&quot;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2010 Deitschman served as a deputy with the Alameda, California, County Sheriff\u2019s office and he spent the past six years commanding the Golden Gate Young Marines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deitschman has been placed on administrative leave from the sheriff\u2019s office with pay pending the outcome of the trial, a spokesman for the force told Marine Corps Times in a Thursday phone call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alameda County Sheriff Sgt. Ray Kelly said the sheriff\u2019s office has launched an internal investigation in Deitschman in addition to the criminal investigation against him. The department is currently unaware of any other alleged victims, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alleged victim was a teenage girl in Deitschman\u2019s Young Marines unit, Mercury News reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Court documents obtained by Mercury News said the alleged victim told a detective about a time in June when Deitschman allegedly gave her a back massage and unstrapped her bra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At some point during the massage Deitschman allegedly \u201cmoved his hands to her buttocks\u201d and \u201cput his hands underneath her shorts,\u201d the paper reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alleged victim showed the detective \u201cnumerous inappropriate text messages\u201d allegedly from Deitschman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMany of the text messages were sexually inappropriate in nature,&#8221; the court documents said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have zero tolerance for this behavior and insist that the health, safety and welfare of every Young Marine is, always has been and always will be, our number one priority,\u201d retired Marine Col. William Davis, the current national executive director and CEO of Young Marines, told Marine Corps Times in a Thursday email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Young Marines is a nonprofit organization that works with children ranging from age eight through high school seniors to promote \u201cmental, moral and physical development of its members\u201d and mirrors \u201cthe values of the Marine Corps,\u201d according to its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davis said Deitschman was \u201cimmediately removed from the active roles of the organization\u201d as soon as they found out about the accusations, but \u201cany final decision&#8221; on Deitschman\u2019s future with the organization &#8220;will be evaluated pending the outcome of any investigation or criminal proceedings by the appropriate authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silver is \u201cvigorously preparing\u201d Deitschman\u2019s defense, citing his client\u2019s long years of service as a sign of good character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDeitschman is a decorated military veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for 30 years.
