Gen. Kurt Stein, the director of Marine and Family Programs, \u201cwill remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of an inquiry into these allegations,\u201d reads a command release sent Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An unknown tipster filed a complaint with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2017\/04\/07\/ncis-15-active-duty-troops-may-have-broken-the-law-in-marines-united-case\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">Naval Criminal Investigative Service<\/a> following the town hall discussion, according to the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Marine Corps expects every Marine, uniformed and civilian <span class=\"js-paste-start-JXGJY5BKJ5C4TA46XSY2IYV2SQ\"> \u2015<span class=\"js-paste-end-JXGJY5BKJ5C4TA46XSY2IYV2SQ\"> and particularly those in leadership positions \u2015 to take allegations of misconduct seriously and to promote positive command climates,\u201d the Corps said in a statement. \u201cLeaders have a responsibility to ensure that their Marines and civilian employees believe they will be taken seriously if they come forward with allegations of misconduct of any kind.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stein assumed his duties as director of Marine and Family Programs, Headquarters Marine Corps in November 2016, according to his official bio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An aviator by trade with more than 100 combat missions under his belt, Stein had served as the assistant deputy commandant for aviation prior to this position, according to his Marine Corps bio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2018\/04\/11\/marines-suspend-general-who-called-allegations-sexual-harassment-fake-news\/502788002\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">USA Today reported that Stein was suspended<\/a> for publicly ridiculing as \u2018fake news\u2019 \u201callegations of sexual harassment at his command\u201d and also joking \u201cabout a chaplain recently fired for having sex in public.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marine Corps Times on Wednesday reached out to the Marine Corps for a comment from Stein and has yet to receive a response. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An unknown tipster filed a complaint with Naval Criminal Investigative Service following an April 6 town hall discussion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":34224,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-noindex":"","_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-nofollow":"","_yoast_wpseo_canonical":"","_acf":"","_yoast_wpseo_primary_category":69,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","_smg_distribution_targets":{"2":{"categories":["news"],"primary_category":"news"}}},"categories":[101,12,25,69],"tags":[],"coauthors":[3398],"class_list":["post-31291","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-daily-news-roundup","category-news","category-newsletters","category-your-marine-corps"],"acf":{"subheadline":"","legacy_arc_id":"PKIZVGCQUFHYXIAN47WXYWLBAI","arc_canonical_url":"\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2018\/04\/11\/commandant-places-general-on-leave-following-complaint\/","remove_feature_photo":false,"is_sponsored":false,"subtype":"","redirect_url":"","disable_inline_ads":false,"native_logo_pretext":"Presented By:"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.0 (Yoast SEO v28.1) -
