Shane \u201cRhino\u201d Tomko<\/a> was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Tuesday after he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2016\/06\/27\/former-wounded-warrior-regiment-commander-released-from-brig\/\" target=_blank>plead guilty to three counts of misdemeanor assault<\/a> and battery, according to Stars and Stripes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/former-marine-colonel-sentenced-to-prison-for-abusing-children-1.536917\" target=\"_blank\">Stripes<\/a>, Tomko was sentenced at the Virginia Beach Circuit Court in Virginia. He had been charged with indecent liberties, aggravated sexual battery and child abuse and neglect involving three child relatives, which reportedly started in 2002. Tomko has been in custody in the Virginia Beach City Jail since he was arrested in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to his arrest, Tomko was pastor of Parkview Church in Quincy, Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before that, Tomko was the commander of the Wounded Warrior Regiment prior to being relieved of his post in February 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"468\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tomko-mugshot.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56901\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tomko-mugshot.jpg.jpg 624w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tomko-mugshot.jpg.jpg?resize=300,225 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Col. (Adams County Jail)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In May 2016, Tomko was sentenced to 60 days confinement and a $10,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to having an inappropriate relationship with a corporal, where the two had exchanged various Facebook messages that contained clear sexual content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time, Tomko also pleaded guilty to showing up drunk to an arraignment, using a subordinate to acquire testosterone and violating a military protective order and contacting his wife. Geoff Shows, Tomko\u2019s military attorney, had claimed that \u201cTomko needs help, not confinement\u201d and that Tomko was \u201ca Marine officer who is so broken that he can\u2019t get out of his own way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While awaiting extradition in Illinois, Tomko will get credit for jail time, Stripes reported. Additionally half of his prison sentence, another 18 months, was suspended, and Tomko will not be allowed to contact the now-adult victims in the case or their parents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marine Corps veteran Col.
