{"id":41152,"date":"2017-09-19T17:10:21","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T17:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/uncategorized\/2017\/09\/19\/marines-looking-for-newer-lighter-cold-weather-boot\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T23:19:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T23:19:40","slug":"marines-looking-for-newer-lighter-cold-weather-boot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2017\/09\/19\/marines-looking-for-newer-lighter-cold-weather-boot\/","title":{"rendered":"Marines looking for newer, lighter cold weather boot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Marine Corps is looking to replace the antiquated extreme cold weather boot that Marines have worn since the Korean War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marines are still wearing cold weather boots that were designed in the 1940s, which need to be removed each night to avoid getting trench foot, said Col, Mike Manning of Marine Corps Systems Command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got to do more; we\u2019ve got to get better and we got to get lighter,\u201d Manning said Tuesday at the Marine Corps League\u2019s annual Modern Day Marine expo in Quantico, Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marine Corps officials will solicit ideas and proposals from the defense industry for a new, lighter cold weather boot, Manning said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have talked with the Army, and yes, we have held multiple industry days.
