soldiers to get the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2018\/09\/18\/these-six-companies-have-been-selected-to-compete-in-the-armys-submachine-gun-program\/\" target=_blank>first rounds on target faster<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials with Program Manager Soldier Weapons posted the notice for a new Mounted Machine Gun Optic recently on the government website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/?s=opportunity&#038;mode=form&#038;id=c47f7eb02bcdc16432d920e0a0d4aaed&#038;tab=core&#038;_cview=1\" target=_blank>fbo.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their Request for Proposal, officials want an optic that can achieve faster target acquisition times and increased first-burst probability of hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/militarytimes\/news\/your-military\/2017\/06\/27\/the-new-stealth-infantry-how-suppressors-will-change-battlefield-tactics\/\" Marine Corps are both interested in expanding the use of suppressors. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And they want an optic for each of the following: the M240B the standard issue 7.62mm machine gun, the M2\/M2A1 .50 caliber, also known as the \u201cMa Deuce,\u201d and the Mk19 machine gun, a fully automatic grenade launcher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials will take three companies\u2019 submissions by mid-November and expect 35 MMOs for testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They plan to make an award by early 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\u2019ll be taking test data on \u201cmagnification, weapon shock ruggedization, zero retention, parallax, and high temperature performance\u201d into consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But, most importantly, the result must \u201cenable warfighters to scan with both eyes open, then rapidly slew the weapon on target, and engage with a higher confidence of getting the first burst on target,\u201d according to the
