That\u2019s up from 4.30 in 2018. On this scale, a score of 1 is \u201cpoor\u201d, and a score of 5 is \u201cexcellent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 20,000 shoppers took the survey, conducted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/pay-benefits\/2019\/02\/08\/military-stores-launch-effort-to-boost-their-buying-power-and-their-customers-savings\/\" target=\"_blank\">Defense Commissary Agency<\/a> for 10 consecutive operating days at each commissary, starting July 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overall score is a weighted average of scores on 14 topics based on store sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissary officials are encouraged by the improvement, said Robert Bianchi, a retired Navy rear admiral who is the DoD special assistant for commissary operations, in an announcement of the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe believe our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/pay-benefits\/mil-money\/2018\/06\/06\/heres-how-your-commissary-plans-to-get-back-lost-customers\/\" target=_blank>new programs<\/a> are moving the needle \u2014 the Your Everyday Savings! program, renewed focus on customer service and an increased emphasis on getting more products on the shelf.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he added, \u201cthere\u2019s always room to do better, and that\u2019s our mission as the providers of the commissary benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall commissaries\u2019 scores improved in all categories. This Commissary Customer Service Survey has been used since 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials have also been using an additional survey through ForeSee, to get more immediate feedback for commissaries throughout the year. Like similar surveys used by other retailers, customers go to a link printed at the bottom of their sales receipt, to access the survey.
