There are some extra special military emojis too, including one that looks like a Vietnam-era helmet for some reason and one that depicts an award that\u2019s eerily similar to the color pattern on the National Defense Ribbon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None, however, come with as much gravity as the saluting half-face, otherwise known as the \u201cYES SIR\u201d emoji, which was added in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And while some may find it trite, there are a handful of valid uses for this smug smiley face, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When your wife tells you to pick up the kids from school. She\u2019s the captain now, and must be regarded as such.<\/li><li>If your CO texts you that your leave request has been denied. It\u2019s the only polite but sarcastic way to acknowledge being screwed over.<\/li><li>Every time you\u2019re on duty and anyone asks you to do anything besides sit and stare into the abyss.<\/li><li>When your platoon\u2019s group chat blows up and you want to acknowledge the activity without reading any of the messages<\/li><li>Each time you talk to or about special forces guys, who the emoji was <i>really<\/i> designed for. You\u2019re welcome for their service.<\/li><li>If you need to reply \u201cyes\u201d but your phone doesn\u2019t have WiFi, you can\u2019t access the GIPHY keyboard, and the infinitely better \u201cStar Wars ROGER ROGER\u201d GIF isn\u2019t available.<\/li><li>Anytime a military recruiter sends you a message.
