They did not attempt this obstacle during Obstacle Course I and realized how much more difficult the ropes are to climb when they are fatigued from running the course. Today, all males recruited west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually.
