EDINBURGH, Ind. – Authorities say a control box used to simulate explosions from roadside bombs was stolen during a burglary at the Indiana National Guard’s Camp Atterbury.
Base spokeswoman Capt. Jessica Cates says the control box doesn’t contain explosives so it isn’t dangerous on its own.
The device was among numerous tools and materials reported stolen from a building in a wooded training area on a remote portion of the base about 30 miles south of Indianapolis.
Cates tells the Daily Journal an employee of a private contractor that operates the explosion simulations discovered the break-in on Monday.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and military investigators are searching for whoever committed the break-in on the secure military installation.
