President Donald Trump has authorized a limited assortment of arms to supply the Syrian Kurds in their fight against the Islamic State. The Pentagon announced that the president has allowed for the Defense Department to equip Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces as they prepare to assault Raqqa. The Syrian city is the Islamic State’s de facto captial. The supply of equipment will include more than weapons, such as bulldozers and other pieces of engineering gear. However, small arms will be parceled out, such as rifles and machine guns, along with armored vehicles.
