A U.S. Central Command investigation found that many "unintentional human errors" led the country to conduct a massive airstrikes against a group of unidentified individuals in Syria earlier this fall. The investigation found that there was no malicious intent in the strikes, even though the targets were misidentified. The lead investigating officer said the strikes were conducted in accordance with the law of armed conflict and within the rules of engagement.
