On Sunday, Donald Trump’s national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, met Afghanistan officials in Kabul amid questions over the new administration’s plans following the unleashing of a huge bomb on ISIS fighters. According to a statement, McMaster met President Ashraf Ghani and other senior Afghan officials to discuss security, counter-terrorism, reforms, and development. Even though US military officials say the bomb was based solely on tactical needs, it has led to speculation that Trump’s defense team is looking to escalate the battle against terrorists in Afghanistan.
