AAC did not have a Honey Badger on display at SHOT Show. I spoke with ROC’s Carlos Martinez in the Remington Outdoor Company booth who said AAC is in the process of further refining its product line and, at the moment, the only place to find the LVAW/Honey Badger is in the Remington Defense lineup.
It sounds to me like the commercial release of the AAC Honey Badger has gone from, “it’ll happen; eventually” to “don’t get your hopes up.”
But, the gun could still come to market as a Remington Defense product; though, the form the gun takes and the timing of that release depends on the government’s decision to adopt the weapon. If Remington wins a contract –the gun is presently downselected in a government competition– Remington would likely hold off on a commercial release in order to concentrate on the government’s needs. Should the contract award go to a competitor, that could mean a the gun goes directly to market in an effort to recoup Big Green’s development costs.
