U.S. intelligence officials now say they have a "high level of confidence" that Russian President Vladimir Putin was personally involved in Russia’s interference in the U.S. presidential election. Two senior officials confirmed that new intelligence from diplomats and spies shows that Putin himself gave direct orders for how hacked materials from Democrats was to be leaked and used. One source said that Putin’s objective was to "split off key American allies by creating the image that [other countries] couldn’t depend on the U.S. to be a credible global leader anymore."
