President Donald Trump says he pushed out White House National Security Adviser John Bolton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Trump, the two are parting ways because he \u201cdisagreed strongly with many of his suggestions.\u201d Trump claimed Bolton<\/a> turned in his resignation this morning, and a new national security adviser will be selected next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bolton was Trump\u2019s third NSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House,\u201d Trump said in a series of tweets Tuesday. \u201cI disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n But Bolton had a different take on how things went down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI offered to resign last night and President Trump said, \u2018Let’s talk about it tomorrow,\u2019” Bolton tweeted later on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bolton also told ABC News that he left of his own volition due to an \u201caccumulation of things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI offered to resign last night,\u201d Bolton said, according to ABC News<\/a>. \u201cHe never asked for me to resign directly or indirectly. I slept on it and resigned this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told reporters later Tuesday that Bolton\u2019s priorities and policies just don\u2019t line up with the president.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere is no one issue here…they just didn\u2019t align on many issues,\u201d Gidley said, according to White House press pool reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bolton, who backed the Iraq War in 2003, joined the White House in April 2018, replacing Trump\u2019s second national security adviser retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since then, media reports have indicated that the two have sparred over military intervention in many areas, including North Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
