According to the US Department of Veteran Affairs, “three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans \u2014 the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) \u2014 established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will not be posting anything about Memorial Day sales. This holiday is about honoring our fallen, not shopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
