The Associated Press obtained a copy of the draft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If approved, the draft Pentagon policy would bring the other military services in line with the Marine Corps, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2020\/06\/06\/marine-corps-bars-public-display-of-confederate-flag-on-installations\/\" target=_blank>banned Confederate displays<\/a> on its bases in early June. Other military services had been poised to make similar decisions, but they were stalled when Esper said he wanted a review of the matter that would come up with a consistent department policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2020\/06\/09\/cno-says-no-more-confederate-battle-flags-in-public-spaces-and-work-areas\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/chancellorsville-crest.png.png?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">CNO says no more Confederate battle flags in public spaces and work areas<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The move comes as America grapples once again with racist Confederate symbols and statutes in modern-day America.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to officials, the draft was sent out to service leaders for their input and response last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the draft, a ban would preserve \u201cthe morale of our personnel, good order and discipline within the military ranks and unit cohesion.\u201d It notes that a \u201csignificant\u201d population of service members and their families are minorities and \u201cit is beyond doubt\u201d that many \u201ctake grave offense at such a display.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump, in a tweet Monday, said that NASCAR\u2019s \u201cFlag decision\u201d and the uproar over a noose found hanging in the garage of the sport\u2019s only full-time Black driver were driving the sports\u2019 ratings down. And he suggested that Bubba Wallace should apologize after the sport rallied around him after the noose was found in his assigned stall at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal authorities ruled last month the noose had been hanging since October and was not a hate crime.
