Col. Bryan Swenson was fired by Brig. Gen. Thomas Weidley, the commanding officer of the 1st Marine Air Wing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marine spokeswoman 1st Lt. Karoline Foote told Marine Corps Times Wednesday that Swenson was removed \u201cdue to loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead his command.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marine officials have provided no other details about the squadron commander\u2019s removal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMajor Christopher Denver, executive officer for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2017\/08\/30\/another-osprey-makes-emergency-landing-in-japan\/\" title=\"\" class=\"selected-link\" target=\"_blank\">VMM-265 (Reinforced)<\/a> has been assigned as interim Commanding Officer,\u201d Foote said in an email to Marine Corps Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VMM-265 was involved in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2017\/08\/11\/top-marine-orders-24-hour-pause-in-flight-operations-for-all-aircraft\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">deadly MV-22B Osprey crash<\/a> in August 2017 off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The crash killed three Marines, and the cause of it is still under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the deadly incident, Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert B. Neller suspended all Marine air operations for 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>This is a breaking story and will be updated as Marine Corps Times learns more.
