Shane Tomko is being held without bond at the Adams County Jail in Quincy, Illinois, after being arrested on Nov. 22, officials told Marine Corps Times on Monday. The Herald-Whig newspaper <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whig.com\/20171123\/quincy-native-former-marine-colonel-arrested-on-virginia-felony-warrants#\/\/\" title=\"\" class=\"selected-link\">first reported<\/a> that Illinois authorities arrested Tomko on seven felony warrants issued by police in Virginia Beach, Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomko is accused of abusing three children from 2002 to the present in Virginia Beach, a police spokeswoman said. He is charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of felony cruelty to children.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2016\/06\/27\/former-wounded-warrior-regiment-commander-released-from-brig\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"194\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/635594422517915985-off-warrior-games-day4-21-jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Former Wounded Warrior Regiment commander released from brig<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">In February 2015, Tomko&#039;s exemplary military career came crashing down after a command investigation into his relationship with the female Marine led to his removal as commander of the\u00a0Wounded Warrior Regiment.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, Tomko spent 50 days in confinement and was fined $10,000 after pleading guilty in May 2016 to having an inappropriate relationship with a Marine corporal and other charges. He was relieved of command of the Wounded Warrior Regiment in February 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before being sentenced in 2016, Tomko gave an emotional and rambling statement about how years of combat operations and notifying the families of Marines who were killed had taken a toll on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI just feel like I\u2019ve been fighting my whole life,\u201d Tomko said. \u201cI\u2019m tired. I just want to unclench my fists. I just want to touch my wife gentle and figure out a way to get her to love me again.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Marine Col.
