of one of Britain\u2019s newest aircraft carriers, marking a possible future of increased interoperability and flexibility as the U.S. and U.K. take another step forward in their \u201cspecial relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Marine squadron, also known as VMFA-211, or the Wake Island Avengers, sent 10 F-35Bs, from its home base on Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, to the British aircraft carrier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/naval\/2020\/04\/30\/britains-new-carrier-queen-elizabeth-sets-sail-prepared-to-train-amid-pandemic\/\">Queen Elizabeth,<\/a> where they operated alongside the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/naval\/2020\/10\/20\/the-us-and-uk-navies-prepare-to-sign-agreement-to-merge-their-tech-futures\/\">United Kingdom\u2019s Joint Squadron 617<\/a>, the Dambusters.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a Queen Elizabeth to take part in a full length deployment.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short operation was meant to help the Marines and British counterparts get used to each other before they embark on a full-scale deployment in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joining the Marines on the Queen Elizbeth\u2019s inaugural deployment in 2021 will be six Royal Navy destroyers, frigates and auxiliaries, along with vessels from the Royal Netherlands Navy and the American Navy, forming the \u201clargest UK-led multi-national force in recent years,\u201d according to a press release about the upcoming deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will not be the first time the Wake Island Avengers make history in the F-35B, with the squadron responsible for flying one of the Corps\u2019 newest planes in combat for the first time in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
