The Marine Corps has pushed back the mandatory wear date for the new female dress blue coat<\/a> and is coming up short on a handful of other items as the service experiences supply chain issues in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now female Marines are not required to own the new version of the dress blue coat <\/a>until April 1, 2023 \u2015 nearly five years after it was first issued to Marines. That\u2019s due to shortages that also are affecting the running suit, the combat blouse, the men\u2019s long and short-sleeved khaki shirt and the all-weather coat, Maj. James Stenger told Marine Corps Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are working to quickly and efficiently address any supply chain issues,\u201d Stenger said in a statement. \u201cEach uniform comes with its own unique challenges as far as sourcing is concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marines who don\u2019t get a uniform item as part of their initial uniform issue <\/a>will get it at the unit they\u2019re headed to, Stenger said. He said the \u201cgaining commands\u201d of Marines who\u2019d been shorted any items would be notified of what they were owed so it could be made available to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
