And we\u2019ll continue to do all the things we need to do to keep America safe,&#8221; Pompeo said on \u201cFox News Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pompeo said he did not consider the parliament\u2019s vote to be a final, formal decision by the Iraqi government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ll have to take a look at what we do when the Iraqi leadership and government makes a decision,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the American people should know we\u2019ll make the right decision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iraq\u2019s Parliament called for the expulsion of U.S. troops from the country Sunday in reaction to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2020\/01\/03\/iran-leader-killed-in-strike-linked-to-years-of-attacks-killing-of-more-than-1000-us-troops-during-iraq-war\/\"> the American drone attack<\/a> that killed a top Iranian general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawmakers approved a resolution asking the Iraqi government to end the agreement under which Washington sent forces to Iraq more than four years ago to help in the fight against the Islamic State group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pullout of the estimated 5,200 U.S. troops could cripple the fight against ISIS and allow its resurgence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The majority of about 180 legislators present in Parliament voted in favor of the resolution. It was backed by most Shiite members of parliament, who hold a majority of seats. Many Sunni and Kurdish legislators did not show up for the session, apparently because they oppose abolishing the deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials from the Pentagon,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/\"> U.S. Central Command<\/a> and the Combined Joint Task Force Inherent Resolve did not immediately respond to requests by Military Times for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
