BAR HARBOR, Maine \u2014 Families of people who died during military service would receive free access to national parks if Congress approves a proposal from two Maine lawmakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratic Rep. Jared Golden and independent Sen. Angus King said their proposal would honor Gold Star families with free entrance to the National Park Service\u2019s locations and other federally managed public lands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Golden, a Marine veteran, said the proposal is common sense because \u201cfamilies of fallen service members should have free access to our country\u2019s most treasured places.\u201d King called it \u201csimply the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\t
