He says he hopes that he can be an example to people who fear they won&#8217;t be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Some of the senior lacrosse players and swimmers involved were not allowed to graduate with the rest of their class last month, and it remains to be seen whether they will still receive their commissions.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen Peters II, founder of the advocacy group The American Military Partner Association, says, &#8220;To our knowledge, it&#8217;s safe to say Kim is the first Division 1 military academy football player to come out.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several of Kim&#8217;s teammates sent him messages of support through social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Air Force Academy officials say the academy strives to foster a culture where everyone gives and receives <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2017\/09\/29\/academy-superintendent-responds-to-hate-speech-with-powerful-message\/\" target=_blank>dignity and
