{"id":13935,"date":"2018-08-06T22:11:30","date_gmt":"2018-08-06T22:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/uncategorized\/2018\/08\/06\/contractor-pleads-guilty-to-corruption-in-coast-guard-project\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T19:03:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T19:03:50","slug":"contractor-pleads-guilty-to-corruption-in-coast-guard-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2018\/08\/06\/contractor-pleads-guilty-to-corruption-in-coast-guard-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Contractor pleads guilty to corruption in Coast Guard project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RUTLAND, Vt. \u2014 A Florida man who worked as a project manager for a company that has done more than $200 million of dollars in energy efficiency work for the U.S. government pleaded guilty Monday to charges he took more than $2.5 million in kickbacks and bribes over a five-year period from subcontractors he was overseeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bhaskar Patel of Windermere, Florida, entered the plea during a hearing in federal court in Rutland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is facing up to 10 years in prison for violating a law against taking kickbacks and bribes involving federal programs. became aware that Patel had falsified a bid document submitted to Schneider by a Vermont subcontractor who was bidding for work at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River
