Since deleted after a call from Military Times, the tweet, posted Tuesday night, hit a sour note among some social media users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPAOs bout to get fired,\u201d posted one person on Twitter in response, which was part of a thread since deleted by AFSOC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSeems like PAOs are either really good at their jobs or they post stuff like this&#8230;,\u201d posted another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe recognize it was in poor taste and have taken it down and apologize to anyone offended,\u201d Matt Durham, AFSOC director of public affairs told Military Times. \u201cWe will review how this happened and act accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The posting came just days after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2020\/03\/21\/army-employee-fired-for-insensitive-post-about-coronavirus-outbreak\/\" target=_blank>Army officials fired a social media manager<\/a> on Saturday for an Instagram post related to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/coronavirus\/\">ongoing coronavirus outbreak<\/a> that critics \u2014 including at least one member on Congress \u2014 blasted as offensive and racist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The post, part of a series of questions and answers on the virus, was up on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/usarmy\/?hl=en\">Army\u2019s official social media account<\/a> for several hours before being deleted. Under the posted question \u201cwhy did a man eat a bat,\u201d Army officials wrote \u201cit wasn\u2019t because he was thirsty\u201d with a picture of a man shrugging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The comment appears to reference rumors that the coronavirus originated from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2020\/03\/14\/explainer-if-coronavirus-started-in-bats-why-arent-they-dead\/\">someone eating a bat in China<\/a>, an assertion that scientists have not confirmed. But the idea has provided fodder for culturally insensitive jokes and ethnic blaming for the fast-moving illness, which has already killed nearly 13,000 people worldwide (more than 200 in the United States).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That post drew condemnation from veterans groups and military advocates on social media for its insensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is simply unacceptable,\u201d Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill. and an Iraq War veteran, wrote on Twitter. \u201cWe do not know how COVID19 first infected humans but racism has no place in our Armed Forces.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Army officials later deleted the thread and apologized for the posting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since deleted after a call from Military
