The Continental U.S. Cost of Living Allowance<\/a><\/strong>, or ConUS COLA, is a taxable supplemental allowance designed to help offset higher prices in high-cost locations in the continental U.S. that exceed the costs in an average location by 8 percent or more. This year, more than 25,000 service members in almost 50 cities and counties qualify for the monthly payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dislocation allowance<\/strong><\/a> is meant to partially reimburse troops for costs incurred in relocating a household on a permanent change-of-station move or incident to an evacuation. It can be paid in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
