David Milne said Wednesday that while the school\u2019s superintendent accepted VerHulst\u2019s resignation Tuesday, \u201che was simultaneously temporarily removed from his position pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Milne said he did not know when the Coast Guard Investigative Service\u2019s investigation began, and he declined to say what kind of alleged inappropriate conduct was being investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Coast Guard cannot provide details at this time in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation and to protect the Coast Guard\u2019s ability to take appropriate final action,\u201d Milne said.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link unclear.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VerHulst did not reply to messages and calls seeking comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VerHulst assumed the duties of command master chief at the academy in August 2017, according to his online bio, a job that involved advising the superintendent on issues pertaining to the academy\u2019s workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before that, VerHulst served as CMC for the 17th Coast Guard District out of Juneau, Alaska, and served on
