Tadd Gorman<\/a> was relieved of command Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials with the Japan-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navy.mil\/local\/ctf70\/\" target=_blank>Task Force 70<\/a> declined to specify why he was fired, but attributed it to \u201ca loss of confidence in his personal judgement and ability to command.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gorman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c7f.navy.mil\/Media\/News\/Display\/Article\/1862445\/uss-antietam-holds-change-of-command-ceremony-in-guam\/fbclid\/IwAR3KNNG5EqenP11HBSbKywzH8p4F21d3bJ2qlroYJsCWTQtbQv2jnbL8b4U\/\" target=_blank>took the helm <\/a>of the warship on May 30 in Guam. Cmdr. William Knight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Antietam has been underway as part of the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group and made a port call in the Philippine capital of Manila earlier this month, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpf.navy.mil\/news.aspx\/130500\" target=_blank>Navy release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knight declined to say whether Gorman faces other disciplinary actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe removal of Capt. Gorman from his position as commanding officer is administrative in nature,\u201d Knight said. \u201cIt would be inappropriate to discuss possible further actions at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Capt. He previously served as executive officer and commanding officer of the guided-missile destroyer Ross during its homeport shift to Rota, Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He\u2019s the second Antietam CO to be fired since 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2017\/03\/01\/cruiser-skipper-fired-after-tokyo-bay-grounding\/\" target=_blank>Capt. Joseph Carrigan<\/a> was removed in early 2017 after the ship ran aground in Tokyo Bay, the first of four major ship collisions in the west Pacific 7th Fleet that year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gorman\u2019s relief was the third triad removal announced on Tuesday by the Pentagon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Superiors fired the executive officer of the fast attack submarine Jimmy Carter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2019\/08\/20\/navy-boots-boats-xo\/\">Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Cebik<\/a>, and the XO of the guided-missile destroyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/USS-McCampbell-DDG-85-139222011771\/\">McCampbell<\/a> \u2014 Lt. Cmdr.
