She faces a preliminary hearing set for April 30 in Virginia Beach General District Court, according to online court records.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2020\/03\/02\/virginia-beach-woman-charged-with-aiming-strobe-lights-at-aircraft\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/strobeA.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Virginia Beach woman charged with aiming strobe lights at aircraft<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">NCIS said on Twitter that the suspect shined strobe lights at aircraft during night operations.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NCIS received complaints in December from Navy leaders that someone was flashing lights at aircraft from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnic.navy.mil\/regions\/cnrma\/installations\/nas_oceana\/om\/air_operations.html\" target=_blank>Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress<\/a>, Houston said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI can tell you that they were complaining about it, so it happened more than once,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnic.navy.mil\/regions\/cnrma\/installations\/nas_oceana\/om\/environmental_support\/NALF_fentress_drinking_water.html\" target=_blank>Fentress<\/a>, a rural airfield in nearby Chesapeake, is operated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnic.navy.mil\/regions\/cnrma\/installations\/nas_oceana.html\" target=_blank>Naval Air Station Oceana<\/a> and aviators often practice aircraft carrier landings there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Houston said Moore\u2019s home is located near the airfield and a public records search by Navy Times confirmed its location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators observed Moore in her backyard on Dec. 16 targeting aircraft with the makeshift device and took their case to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth\u2019s Attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSuch activity is a major concern for pilots who may be disoriented or injured by lasers and other lights being shined into their eyes,\u201d Houston said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said he did not know why Moore allegedly targeted the aircraft and her attorney, Richmond-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaughancjones.com\/\" target=_blank>Vaughan C. Jones<\/a>, did not return a message left for him Wednesday by Navy Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Macie P. Allen, a spokesperson for the Virginia Beach Commonwealth\u2019s Attorney, declined comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a Oceana have campaigned about the dangers of pointing lasers at aircraft, particularly around the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, a major tourist destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2012, Robert Bruce Jr., of Virginia Beach resident, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and three years of probation after he pleaded guilty to one charge of interfering with the operation of Naval aircraft in U.S. District Court in Norfolk, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pilotonline.com\/news\/crime\/article_f0852b16-7243-519d-b5c0-06764d38b52b.html\" target=_blank>The Virginian-Pilot<\/a> and federal court records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bruce pointed a laser at Oceana-based fighter pilots on multiple occasions, including during landing practice, and someone using his phone number called the base\u2019s flight operations and concerns line repeatedly to complain about jet noise and threatened violence, including &#8220;taking potshots at your [expletive] precious jets,\u201d records indicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div
