On Thursday, the Navy announced \u2014 with little fanfare \u2014 that the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group had deployed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The carrier left its homeport at Naval Station Norfolk in mid-January for its month-long integrated predeployment certification training known as the Composite Unit Training Exercise \u2014 COMPTUEX<\/a> \u2014 in the Atlantic Ocean and didn\u2019t return, Navy 2nd Fleet<\/a> spokesperson Lt. Marycate Walsh told Navy Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Sailors of IKE Strike Group are trained and ready to execute the full spectrum of maritime operations in any theater,\u201d Rear Adm. Paul Schlise<\/a>, the strike group\u2019s commander, said in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
