NEW LONDON, Conn. \u2014 Officials at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy retaliated against a faculty member who had complained of harassment and bullying based on her gender and race<\/a>, according to a report from the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Office of Inspector General released Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report says \u201ca preponderance of the evidence\u201d shows that the lieutenant commander at the New London, Connecticut, academy received a poor annual evaluation \u201cafter making discrimination and harassment complaints against her superiors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also found that the Coast Guard failed to adequately respond to the woman\u2019s complaints, which were made in 2015 and 2016, and subjected her to additional harassment after she made her initial complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The person’s name was blacked out in the heavily redacted report. The subjects of her complaints and those who handled them were also redacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
