Deputies say he was last seen by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hunterspringspark.org\/\" target=_blank>Hunter Springs Park <\/a>Rangers around 6:30 p.m. Saturday as he launched his board there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was believed to have been wearing \u201cbrown, colonial style pants, a brown and white jacket and a brown bandanna,\u201d according to an alert issued Monday morning by the Citrus County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities suspect that Hensley took his paddleboard out to <a href=\"https:\/\/adventuresofmom.com\/new-video-exploring-shell-island\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shell Island<\/a> to watch the sunset, but deputies found no evidence that he made it to the uninhabited Gulf Coast islet at the mouth of Crystal River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputies located located his paddleboard in King\u2019s Bay near Pete\u2019s Pier on Monday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marine Unit deputies found his body near there hours later and he was identified by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials said they have yet to determine the cause of his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2019\/09\/12\/florida-man-threatens-coast-guard-aircraft-carriers-and-airliners-with-depth-charges\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/St-Pete.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Florida man threatens Coast Guard \u2018aircraft carriers\u2019 and \u2018airliners\u2019 with \u2018depth charges\u2019<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Two of the radio broadcasts sound bizarre.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Park Rangers contacted deputies around 9 a.m. on Sunday after noticing that Hensley\u2019s vehicle had been left in the Hunter Springs parking lot overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sheriff\u2019s Office contacted Coast Guard St. Petersburg watchstanders around 1 a.m. Monday. They scrambled a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew to search through the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About eight hours later, a Coast Guard Station Yankeetown 29-foot response boat \u2014small crew joined the hunt alongside the Citrus County Sheriff\u2019s Office Aviation and Marine Units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere are a number of small, uninhabited islands in the area and it\u2019s possible that he\u2019s at one of them,\u201d said Coast Guard spokeswoman Public Affairs Specialist 1st Class Ayla Kelley, shortly before local authorities confirmed the body had been discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tampa Bay\u2019s WFTS-TV was the first media outlet to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abcactionnews.com\/news\/region-citrus-hernando\/aviation-marine-units-searching-for-missing-florida-paddleboarder-last-seen-saturday\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a>
