BRUNSWICK, Ga. \u2014 A 71-year-old Roman Catholic priest has been sentenced to federal prison for breaking into a Navy submarine base in Georgia with a group protesting nuclear weapons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A U.S. District Court judge sentenced the Rev. Stephen Michael Kelly on Thursday to 33 months in prison. He\u2019s already served most of that sentence, as the judge gave Kelly credit for the roughly 30 months he spent behind bars awaiting trial and sentencing since his arrest in April 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A year ago, Kelly and six fellow activists were convicted by a jury of trespassing, destruction of government property and other charges stemming from their arrest at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. <\/p>\n\n\n\t
