A mysterious cyber actor hacked into the warship Kidd\u2019s official Facebook page last week and treated visitors to several live videos of them playing the \u201cAge of Empires\u201d video game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the live streams have since been removed, screenshots nabbed by your friends at OP show at least three live seshes went down on the Kidd\u2019s page from Oct. 3 to Oct. 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHahahahaha,\u201d the first post noted at 7:26 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A third livestream commenced at 5:51 a.m. on Oct. 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPOSC,\u201d the hacker wrote, potential shorthand for \u201cpiece of sh*t computer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou gotta get out of the stone age, my man,\u201d one commenter suggested as the hacker attempted to build a civilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other commenters suspected the Kidd\u2019s Facebook had been hacked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow we practice war in 7th Fleet,\u201d one wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen my son comes home tomorrow he\u2019s not going to be able to live this down if it\u2019s one of his (sailors),\u201d a mother added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kidd is homeported in Everett, Washington, and returned from a deployment to the West Pacific late last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naval Surface Forces spokeswoman Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman told the OP Wednesday that the ship\u2019s command informed higher-ups of the page hack on Oct. 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials notified Facebook, but Schwegman said the social media leviathan\u2019s response was hobbled by the historic Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram outages of Oct. 4, when the platforms were offline for roughly six hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDue to their own technical difficulties, it took them longer than usual to respond,\u201d Schwegman said in an email. \u201cOnce they were back online (late in the day Oct. 4th), Facebook secured the page.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schwegman said the command was not aware of any other recent hacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such command Facebook pages are usually administered by the chain of command, and officials said they are unaware of any personal pages of the Kidd page admins getting hacked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kidd hack comes as the Navy and other services have hammered home the need for folks to secure their socials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSocial media is an integral part of the strategic communications and public affairs missions of the Department of Defense,\u201d a Navy website states. \u201cCyber attacks are a real and present threat to cybersecurity of government social media accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\t
