The days of the Navy\u2019s bright yellow physical training uniform shirt and shorts \u2014 in service for about a decade \u2014 are numbered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The duds will be replaced by a unisex-sized combination outfit of blue pants and shirt resplendent with updated Navy logos. They\u2019ll eventually become available in both standard and high-performance versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new PT uniform plan was approved by Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. John Richardson<\/a> in mid-2018 and exchanges began retailing the high-performance version last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, it\u2019s called the \u201cOptional Physical Training Uniform\u201d \u2014 or OPTU \u2015 and sailors who buy the upgrade can wear this combination instead of the traditional yellow-gold shirt and the older style of pants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
