Stephanie Leguizamon said via email to Marine Corps Times on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No injuries were reported. The jet will return to service once it is repaired, Leguizamon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Often referred to as Top Gun, the elite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/Multimedia\/Experience\/Top-Gun-The-Edge-of-Aviation\/\" target=\"_blank\">Navy Fighter Weapons School <\/a>teaches advanced air combat maneuvering tactics and techniques, according to the Navy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The F-35C had been parked and shut down \u201cfollowing a routine training mission in support of the U.S. Navy\u2019s Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program,\u201d Leguizamon said.<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link smg-interstitial-link--fallback wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2022\/12\/01\/f-35b-nose-goes-down-as-plane-is-being-towed-after-electrical-issue\/?contentFeatureId=f0fmoahPVC2AbfL-2-1-8&#038;contentQuery=%7B%22includeSections%22%3A%22%2Fhome%22%2C%22excludeSections%22%3A%22%22%2C%22feedSize%22%3A10%2C%22feedOffset%22%3A295%7D\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__fallback-link\">F-35B nose touches ground as plane is being towed in Japan<\/a><\/aside>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The military is investigating the incident, according to the spokeswoman, who added that the investigation will assess the cost of the damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/USMC\/comments\/1aqchm9\/pee_test_for_all_at_vmfa_311\/\">An image of the jet<\/a> with its nose on the ground were posted to social media earlier in February. <a href=\"https:\/\/theaviationist.com\/2024\/02\/13\/f-35c-nose-landing-gear-collapse-while-parked\/\">The Aviationist<\/a> first reported the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The F-35C <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/453578\/second-marine-f-35c-squadron-conquers-safe-flight-certification\">is meant to be flown<\/a> from aircraft carriers or land bases and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lockheedmartin.com\/content\/dam\/lockheed-martin\/aero\/documents\/F-35\/f35-brochure.pdf\">has a longer range<\/a> than the more nimble \u201cB\u201d variant, which is more prevalent in the Marine Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A similar face-plant incident occurred in 2022 with a Marine Corps F-35B, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2022\/12\/01\/f-35b-nose-goes-down-as-plane-is-being-towed-after-electrical-issue\/?contentFeatureId=f0fmoahPVC2AbfL-2-1-8&#038;contentQuery=%7B%22includeSections%22%3A%22%2Fhome%22%2C%22excludeSections%22%3A%22%22%2C%22feedSize%22%3A10%2C%22feedOffset%22%3A295%7D\">which went nose-down<\/a> on a runway in Japan after it landed because of a suspected electrical issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2018, the nose landing gear of an Air Force F-35A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/air\/2018\/08\/22\/f-35-landing-gear-collapses-after-in-flight-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\">collapsed on the ground<\/a> following a landing for a midair
