Aguirre was fired Wednesday<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">March 2<\/span> by Cmdr. David Edgerton, <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Columbia <\/span>commanding officer of the Pearl Harbor-based sub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The lack of leadership stemmed from unprofessional conduct in the course of his work duties,&#8221; said Cmdr. Brook DeWalt, spokesman for Hawaii-based Naval Submarine Forces, Pacific. <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">&#8220;Beyond that I can\u2019t comment any further because the command investigation is still ongoing.&#8221; <\/span>DeWalt declined to comment further because a command investigation is still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aguirre, who had been aboard Columbia since June 2015, <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">has been <\/span>was administratively re-assigned to Naval Submarine Support Command <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">(NSSC)<\/span> Pearl Harbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a SUBPAC press release<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> about the relief<\/span>, chiefs of the boat \u2014\u00a0or COB, as the command senior enlisted advise<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">o<\/span>r is called in the submarine community \u2014<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">,<\/span> are held to a high standard of accountability as members of the command\u2019s leadership <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">&#8220;<\/span>triad,<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">&#8220;<\/span> which also includes the <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">CO <\/span>commanding officer and the executive officer. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">y<\/span> COBs strengthen the chain of command by keeping the commanding officer aware of existing or potential issues of concern, as well as procedures and practices which affect the mission, readiness, welfare and morale of the <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">S<\/span>sailors in the command, the release said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Navy, Aguirre, a California native,<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> of California<\/span> enlisted in the Navy on March 12, 1996.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is currently frocked to the rank of master chief petty officer; but officially he\u2019s still a senior chief.<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, b But b<\/span>Because he was selected for master chief last year, <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">he <\/span>Aguirre\u00a0is allowed to wear the rank and assume the privilege of the rank until his permanent promotion date.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">This means, his Aguirre&#8217;s <\/span>The master chief\u2019s second star could be taken away from Aguirre\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">at anytime <\/span>by his commanding officer, even without going to captain\u2019s mast, something<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">.<\/span> DeWalt said <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">that had not happened <\/span>had<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">s<\/span> not occurred as of Wednesday<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">\u00a0todayMarch 2<\/span>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Along with <\/span>the Columbia, <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">he <\/span>Aguirre\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">has<\/span> served on four other submarines, including<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> ,<\/span> the ballistic-missile submarine Rhode Island and the fast-attack boats Louisville, Asheville and Topeka.
