{"id":35972,"date":"2018-08-07T20:46:56","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T20:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/uncategorized\/2018\/08\/07\/destroyers-deckplate-was-a-drug-dealer\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T19:49:39","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T19:49:39","slug":"destroyers-deckplate-was-a-drug-dealer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2018\/08\/07\/destroyers-deckplate-was-a-drug-dealer\/","title":{"rendered":"Destroyer\u2019s drug dealer convicted"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A drug dealer who distributed narcotics while serving aboard the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.public.navy.mil\/surfor\/ddg86\/Pages\/default.aspx#.W2nSdyhKg2w\" target=_blank> guided-missile destroyer Shoup<\/a> has pleaded guilty in a case that involved the fatal heroin overdose of a fellow sailor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Aug. 1 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnic.navy.mil\/regions\/cnrnw\/installations\/navbase_kitsap.html\" target=_blank>Naval Base Kitsap<\/a> in Washington, Boatswain\u2019s Mate 2nd Class Jerimiah James Allman pleaded guilty at a special court-martial of trafficking a controlled substance, wrongfully abusing drugs and lying to a special agent of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncis.navy.mil\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=_blank>Naval Criminal Investigative Service<\/a> in late 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was sentenced to 12 months confinement, reduction in rank to the lowest enlisted rank and a bad conduct discharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allman\u2019s charge sheets released to Navy Times reveal darker allegations in his case. Authorities accused Allman of providing an unnamed fellow sailor off the Shoup with the heroin that killed him in nearby Everett on May 1, 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the charge sheets, investigators suspected Allman not only distributed heroin but also sold the prescription drug Percocet and conspired with another Shoup sailor to circulate MDMA \u2014 a mood-altering drug commonly called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drugpolicy.org\/mdma-ecstasy-molly\/whats-difference-between-molly-ecstasy-and-mdma\" target=_blank>\u201cMolly&#8221; or \u201cEcstasy.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosecutors also believed Allman personally abused cocaine and methamphetamine between early 2016 and mid-2017, the documents state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Citing federal privacy laws, military officials have declined to release the name of the sailor who died from the heroin overdose.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2018\/07\/27\/navys-longest-serving-sub-heads-into-retirement\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Bremerton-1.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Navy\u2019s longest-serving sub heads into retirement<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The submarine Bremerton entered the ranks back in 1981, where a very different Navy operated in a very different world.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Originally from Ohio, Allman enlisted in the Navy in 2012.
