Alana Garas as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2020\/06\/09\/cno-says-no-more-confederate-battle-flags-in-public-spaces-and-work-areas\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/chancellorsville-crest.png.png?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">CNO says no more Confederate battle flags in public spaces and work areas<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The move comes as America grapples once again with racist Confederate symbols and statutes in modern-day America.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Screenshots posted online appear to show the cadet wrote \u201cgood hit\u201d about a police officer firing tear gas at an unarmed protester demonstrating in the wake of George Floyd\u2019s death in Minneapolis and allegedly said \u201cthese riots would\u2019ve been over a whole lot quicker\u201d if police officers could kill unarmed people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a reply to a tweet calling for justice for Taylor, an emergency medical technician who was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police while asleep in her own home in March, the cadet responded: \u201cHer justice was received on March 13, 2020,\u201d according to the screenshots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tweets surfaced on the same day academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Sean Buck posted a video message condemning separate racial remarks made earlier this month by a retired captain and former Naval Academy trustee that disparaged admission by the academy of African Americans, Asian Americans and women.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2020\/06\/07\/naval-academy-alumni-board-member-resigns-after-accidental-broadcast-of-racial-slurs-on-facebook\/\" from his position Saturday after an accidental Facebook Live video broadcast him and his wife making racist comments and using racial slurs while talking about the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Garas said that depending on the results of the investigation, the cadet could be disciplined under the Uniform Code of Military Justice or be dismissed from the academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standage did not respond to requests from The Capital Gazette for comment, the
