Todd Coggeshall, who led search efforts for the freighter after it disappeared Oct. 1, testified Tuesday before a Coast Guard investigative panel a tracker put on the\u00a0body\u00a0for later recovery did not work, so it was never located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0El\u00a0Faro\u00a0sank\u00a0after it lost propulsion while sailing from Jacksonville to Puerto Rico and got caught in Hurricane Joaquin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coggeshall said it would have been possible to collect the remains right then, but the crew left the\u00a0body\u00a0to resume looking for survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the remains were too\u00a0decomposed\u00a0to identify by gender or
