The Navy withholds accused&#8217;s identity\u00a0in cases where they were found not guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NAVY REGION MID-ATLANTIC<br\/><br\/> General Court-Martial\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In Norfolk, Virginia, Aviation Boatswain&#8217;s Mate (Equipment) Airman\u00a0Warren D. Brown<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to sexual assault and wrongful use of marijuana. On Nov. 18<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">\u00a02015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a Dishonorable Discharge, to forfeit all pay and allowances, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for 86 months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, confinement greater than 18 months will be suspended and remitted. <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">The suspended confinement may be served if the service member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Special Court-Martial<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a Special Court-Martial<\/span>In Great Lakes, Illinois, Information Systems Technician 3rd Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">IT3<\/span> Chasity M. Thomas<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to false official statements, stalking, general disorder<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> (Article 134)<\/span>\u00a0and the following assimilated federal offenses: wire fraud, communicating a threat, using a telecommunications device to threaten or harass, and attempting to utilize a telecommunications device to threaten or harass. On Nov. 4<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">\u00a02015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced her to <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">be discharged with <\/span>a bad-conduct discharge\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Bad Conduct Discharge<\/span>, reduction in rank to paygrade E-3 and confinement for six\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">6<\/span> months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on her sentence.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a Special Court-Martial <\/span>In Norfolk, Virginia, an E-6 was tried for failure to obey a lawful order and assault consummated by a battery. On Nov. 6<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> 6 November 2015<\/span>, the panel of members returned a verdict of not guilty.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a Special Court-Martial <\/span>In Norfolk, Virginia, Culinary Specialist 2nd Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">CS2<\/span> Joshua W. Abshire<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to violation of a lawful general order, false official statement, sale of military property, larceny\u00a0and attempted larceny. On Nov. 18\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">18 November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a bad-conduct discharge<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Bad Conduct Discharge<\/span>, to forfeit two-thirds pay and allowances per month for eight\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">8<\/span> months, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for eight\u00a0months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, the forfeitures will be waived\/disapproved, and the bad-conduct discharge\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Bad Conduct Discharge<\/span> is to be suspended and remitted pending administrative discharge. The suspended punitive discharge may be ordered executed, and the waived\/disapproved portion of the sentence may be served if the service member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NAVY REGION SOUTHEAST\u00a0<br\/><br\/> General Court-Martial<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In Pensacola, Florida, Master Chief Ho<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">p<\/span>spital Corps<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">p<\/span>man<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">MCM<\/span> Shanon Best<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> was tried for rape and obstruction of justice. On 5 November<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> 2015<\/span>, the panel of members returned a verdict of guilty to all charges and sentenced him to be discharged with a Dishonorable Discharge and confinement for 30 years.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In Jacksonville, Florida, Hospitalman<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">HN<\/span> Joseph E. Harris<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to aggravated assault, violation of a lawful order, and fleeing the scene of an accident. On Nov. 20<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">20 November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a Dishonorable Discharge, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for three\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">3<\/span> years. Pursuant to the pre<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">&#8211;<\/span>trial agreement, confinement greater than 30 months is to be suspended and remitted. Miller<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to sexual abuse of a child. On Nov. 2<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">2 November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a dishonorable\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Dishonorable Discharge<\/span>, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for 15 years. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, confinement greater than 12 years is to be suspended and remitted. The suspended confinement may be served if the service member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In Bremerton, Washington, Aviation Machinist&#8217;s Mate 1st Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">D1<\/span> Mark J. Winiecki<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to rape and sexual assault of a child, child endangerment\u00a0and obstruction of justice. On Nov. 10<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">10 November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">with a <\/span>dishonorably<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Dishonorable Discharge<\/span>, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for 25 years. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, forfeitures are to be waived\/disapproved for the benefit of the family and confinement greater than 258 months<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> (211\/2 years)<\/span>, or 246 months <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">(201\/2 years)<\/span> if the accused successfully completes an offered sex offender treatment program, is to be suspended and remitted. The waived\/disapproved and suspended portions of the sentence may be served if the service member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In Bremerton, Washington, Aviation Support Equipment Technician 2nd Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">S2<\/span> Adam Walker<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to assault upon a child under the age of 16 years. On\u00a0Nov. 13<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">13 November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-3, and confinement for six\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">6<\/span> months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In Bremerton, Washington, Culinary Specialist Seaman<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">SSN<\/span> Victor I. Gargurevich<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to possession of child pornography. On Nov. 13<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">13 November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a bad-conduct discharge\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Bad Conduct Discharge<\/span>, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for four\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">4<\/span> years. On Nov.\u00a018 <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged with a bad-conduct\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Bad Conduct Discharge<\/span>, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for 12 months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a Special Court-Martial <\/span>In Bremerton, Washington, Aviation Boatswain&#8217;s Mate (Equipment) 1st Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">ABE1<\/span> Robert L. Theel<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to stalking, indecent viewing and recording, and assault consummated by a battery. On Nov.\u00a030 <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to confinement for five\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">5<\/span> months. The pretrial agreement had no effect on his sentence.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NAVY REGION SOUTHWEST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>General Court-Martial<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a General Court-Martial <\/span>In San Diego<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, California<\/span>, Hospital Corpsman 1st Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">HM1<\/span> Nelson J. Mejia<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> was tried for aggravated sexual abuse of a child, abusive sexual contact with a child, and fleeing from law enforcement. On\u00a0Nov. 19<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">November 2015<\/span>, the panel of members returned a verdict of not guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a child and abusive sexual contact with a child, but returned a verdict of guilty for fleeing from law enforcement. The panel of members sentenced him to reduction in rank to paygrade E-5 and restriction for 60 days.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Special Court-Martial<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a Special Court-Martial <\/span>In San Diego<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, California<\/span>, Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 1st Class<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">PR1<\/span> Joseph A. Quintero<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to assault consummated by a battery and disorderly conduct (drunkenness). On Nov.\u00a016<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to forfeit $1,000<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">.00<\/span> pay per month for three\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">3<\/span> months, a fine of $2,475<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">.00<\/span>, and confinement for 90 days. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, confinement greater than 31 days is to be suspended and remitted. The suspended confinement may be served if the service member violates the terms of the pretrial agreement.<\/li><li><span class=\"rte rte-comment\">At a Special Court-Martial <\/span>In San Diego<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, California<\/span>, Airman<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">AN<\/span> Danton A. Oliver<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to unauthorized absence, wrongfully using cocaine, alprazolam, amphetamine, oxymorphone, and marijuana, and wrongfully distributing cocaine. On Nov.\u00a024<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to a bad-conduct discharge<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Bad Conduct Discharge<\/span>, to forfeit $120<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">.00<\/span> per month for 12 months, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for 10 months. Pursuant to the pretrial agreement, confinement greater than 90 days is to be suspended and remitted. Dodd<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">, USN<\/span> pleaded guilty pursuant to a pretrial agreement to possessing child pornography. On Nov.\u00a017<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">November 2015<\/span>, the military judge sentenced him to be discharged dishonorably\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Dishonorable Discharge<\/span>, to forfeit all pay and allowances, reduction in rank to paygrade E-1, and confinement for eight\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">8<\/span> years.
