He planned to study graphic design in Florida, but was diagnosed shortly after his discharge with leukemia. He died on Dec. 17, 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mother denied visa to attend veteran son\u2019s funeral! His father has questions tonight at 10. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/3onyourside?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@3onyourside<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/N11GDFSxN8\">pic.twitter.com\/N11GDFSxN8<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Luke Jones (@LukeJonesTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LukeJonesTV\/status\/950914953468407809?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 10, 2018<\/a><\/blockquote>\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Truong\u2019s father, Hung Truong, told WREG-TV that he did not know why his ex-wife was denied a visa to travel from Vietnam for the funeral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The State Department would not provide any further explanation, citing legal confidentiality reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Truong expressed frustration at how the government had handled his ex-wife\u2019s visa requests. He referenced President John F. Kennedy\u2019s famous quote, \u201cAsk not what your country can do for you \u2014 ask what you can do for your country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kennedy was one of his son\u2019s favorite presidents, according to Truong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s already done for this country, but what has this country done for him?\u201d Truong
