The chances of getting a shiny new set of chief petty officer anchors is looking up this year for both the drilling reserve and the reserve full-time support components, according to the newly released official quotas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of this year\u2019s advancement numbers comes as the fiscal year 2019 Selected Reserve and Full-Time E-7 selection board got underway last week in Millington, Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board is reviewing the records of a combined 3,600 sailors whose test scores and evaluations were good enough to qualify this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those in the drilling reserve, over 2,586 eligible candidates will compete for a total of 448 spots, giving those part-time sailors just over a 17 percent shot at moving into the chief\u2019s mess this fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
