William Coulter was relieved due to \u201ca loss of confidence in his ability to command.\u201d He became the commanding officer of the squadron, which is based out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cmdr. Paul Ritter, who was slated to become the commanding officer of the squadron in April 2024, is assuming his duties leading the \u201cGauntlets\u201d immediately. Danielle DeFant was relieved of command.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNavy commanding officers are held to high standards of personal and professional conduct,\u201d the Navy said in a statement Thursday. \u201cThey are expected to uphold the highest standards of responsibility, reliability, and leadership, and the Navy holds them accountable when they fall short of those standards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No additional details were immediately provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coulter is one of at least 11 commanding officers ousted this year. Most recently, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2023\/12\/08\/navy-fires-head-of-recruiting-for-los-angeles-area\/\" target=\"_blank\">Navy relieved<\/a> the commanding officer of Navy Talent Acquisition Group Pacific.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cmdr.
