Ford\u2019s deployment had been extended<\/a> once again, and the flattop remained on station in the Mediterranean Sea, where it has operated since leaving Norfolk, Virginia, in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe title=\"The top national security stories of 2023\" allowtransparency=\"true\" height=\"150\" width=\"100%\" style=\"border: none; min-width: min(100%, 430px);height:150px;\" scrolling=\"no\" data-name=\"pb-iframe-player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podbean.com\/player-v2\/?from=embed&#038;i=3xbx3-1530db4-pb&#038;share=1&#038;download=1&#038;fonts=Georgia&#038;skin=1&#038;font-color=auto&#038;rtl=0&#038;logo_link=episode_page&#038;btn-skin=3267a3&#038;size=150\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Eisenhower arrived in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in November, the first time a carrier has operated in Central Command\u2019s area of responsibility since the end of the Afghanistan war in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe arrival of [the Ike Carrier Strike Group] to Middle East region displays our speed and agility to flex as our nation\u2019s leaders determined a balance of maritime capability in support of national security priorities,\u201d Rear Adm.
