Eisenhower are starting to stencil \u201cvictory marks\u201d on the fuselage of their jets to showcase how much ordnance they\u2019ve unleashed and how many Houthi assets they\u2019ve taken out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photos made public by the Navy this month show the marks on at least one jet, a reflection of successful engagements flown by that particular jet, according to a defense official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this case, the stenciled ordnance reflects how many bombs and missiles were launched by the aircraft, while the other objects signify Houthi targets \u201ckilled\u201d by that jet, such as drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2024\/02\/12\/all-the-houthi-us-navy-incidents-in-the-middle-east-that-we-know-of\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/8198875.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">All the Houthi-US Navy incidents in the Middle East (that we know of)<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">A non-exhaustive, running list of Houthi attacks in the Middle East and the U.S. strikes back at them.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The men and women aboard the Ike and within Ike\u2019s strike group have maintained a feverish deployment pace since leaving Norfolk, Virginia, in October and setting up shop in the Middle East to counter daily Houthi attacks on military and civilian vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fighter jets in Eisenhower\u2019s air wing have regularly struck weapons sites in Yemen this year as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Navy began adding kill marks to its planes during World War II, and ships also began displaying the outlines of sunken enemy vessels to commemorate what they had done, according to a 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usni.org\/magazines\/naval-history-magazine\/2022\/august\/brief-illustrated-history-navy-victory-markings\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Naval Institute<\/a> article on the tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To this day, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.navy.mil\/our-collections\/photography\/us-people\/m\/mccampbell-david.html\" target=\"_blank\">Capt.
