The Pentagon on Wednesday released the name of an Army Green Beret<\/a> who was killed Tuesday during combat operations<\/a> in central Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Forces Sgt. 1st Class Joshua \u201cZach\u201d Beale, 32, died in Uruzgan Province<\/a> after succumbing to wounds sustained from small arms fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group<\/a>, out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This was Beale\u2019s fourth overseas tour, and his third tour to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJoshua was a smart, talented and dedicated member of 3rd SFG (A) and the special operations community,” Col. Nathan Prussian, 3rd Group\u2019s commander, said in a statement provided to Army Times. \u201cHe will be greatly missed by everyone who had the fortunate opportunity to know him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beale was a native of Carrollton, Virginia, and had more than seven years of service in the Army. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Old Dominion University in 2008 and enlisted in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He attended basic training and airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia. Beale then graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2013 and was subsequently assigned to 3rd Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
